Additional
Information
*IMPORTANT:
Since the changeover of all
European Union countries (except UK) to the euro, banks no
longer change dollars into euros. This can only be done at
a "Bureau de Change" or Currency Exchange Office.
These are usually found only in the larger cities (and at
most airports).
Each word list is geared to teach you one of three different
skills, depending on what you'll need to do with the vocabulary:
- LISEZ (READ): for
signs in the airport, train station, on the street.
- ÉCOUTEZ (LISTEN): for phrases that
French people (a train conductor, a waiter) might say to you.
(Wouldn't it be nice to know what they're saying?)
- PARLEZ (SPEAK): for questions you might
need to ask (Where is the station? Is this the right train?)
When you have finished with the instruction, you should
be able to:
- Read and understand all vocabulary marked with LISEZ;
- Hear and understand all vocabulary marked with ÉCOUTEZ
or E;
- Speak all vocabulary marked with PARLEZ
or P (make sure you practice saying these
words after the speaker).
