The Loire Valley from a different point of view! How many people see the Castle of Chenonceau from a canoe?! You can on this trip; as well as experience zip lining, cycling, and hiking! Discover the old town of Tours on an easy orienteering course, and taste some local chocolates in Amboise. The tranquil waters of the Loire, Indre, and Cher rivers flow through the heart of this scenic region known for its vineyards, orchards, and magnificent castles. This multi activity trip still takes you to the highlight castles, villages, and allows you to experience the best of the Loire but in a totally different way!

For many visitors, the Loire Valley conjures images from the fairy tales of childhood. This tour starts in Amboise, an important cultural town with both a castle and historical sites. The program will take you to chateaux that are visiting such as Chenonceau and Azay le Rideau, and also the kind you stay in if you choose to upgrade. You will also visit some important wine regions and have the chance to explore some well known gardens.

DAY 1 DAY 2

Day 2 - Amboise to Chenonceaux canoeing and chocolate tasting! A short and moderately flat ride will take you through the forests and alleys of the Amboise countryside passing by the Parc Mini Chateaux (great for kids) and then dropping down to the fabulous Chenonceau Castle that must be discovered with plenty of time to visit. Once at Chenonceau, ride to Civray, just a mile away to start your canoe ride! You will drop off your bikes there, and they will take you to the start of the itinerary. You will then canoe downstream for almost 2 hours, and pass under the Chateau de Chenonceau. Pick up your bikes and ride back to Amboise where you can enjoy a reward : a chocolate tasting in front of the chateau of Amboise ! Return to the same hotel and dinner on your own. 30 or 50km

DAY 3

Day 3 -Amboise to Tours and orienteering around the city! Following bike paths out of Amboise, you will first ride through the vineyards of Montlouis, a famous white wine appellation. Then continue, to the city of Tours (bicycle friendly!) where you can enjoy a nice lunch and try our orienteering to discover "Le Vieux Tours" the original medieval district of the city. Unique to the Old City are its preserved half-timbered buildings and La Place Plumereau, a square with busy pubs and restaurants, where terraces fill the center of the square. 32km + walking around Tours. Night in the center of town, dinner on your own.

DAY 4

Day 4 - Ride from Tours to Azay le Rideau. 36 or 48km Your first ride, once again on an easy road for bike, will take you to Savonnieres and then to the famous gardens of Villandry, which were designed to be in complete harmony with the Renaissance architecture of the chateau. Then you will continue to Azay-le-Rideau, your final destination for today, famous for its Chateau on the Indre River, originally built in the Middle Ages to protect the passage from the road going from Tours to Chinon. The long option gives you the opportunity to visit Sache, chateau of the famous writter Balzac. Night in a charming hotel and dinner included.

DAY 5

Day 5 - Ride from Azay le Rideau to Chinon. 34 or 45km. Chateaux Day! Today the itinerary will take you through more Medieval Chateaux. First stop in Langeais, where the Chateau was the temporary lair of lawless armed bands during the Hundred Years War. After this Chateau, continue to a different theme, Chateau of Usse, a fairytale castle which is reputed to have inspired the story of Sleeping Beauty! Finally, you will head to Chinon where you will spend the night and where you can taste some of the local wine, made famous in the writings of Francois Rabelais. Dinner on your own.

DAY 6

Loop around Chinon with different options: riding, walking or Adventure Park! Today the choice is yours! We offer 3 different options for activities depending on your preferences!

Hiking: A nice hike of 8.5 or 13km will take you around Chinon through its vineyards and back.
Biking: ride through sunflower fields and vineyards to take in your last peaceful days in the Loire Valley (44km)
Adventure Park: for the adventurous ones, you will have the option to ride to the park (20km) where you will enjoy zip lining nd other activities in the trees! Please note that the park is open daily in April, July and August, on weekd-end in May, June and September, so if you want to go there, make sure today falls on a weekend during those months.

Level - Average riding 38 km/ride; hiking 10 km avg, canoe level is easy.
Level: Rated Level 2 with moderate riding over flat to rolling terrain; moderate hikes over flat surfaces, easy canoe on flat water, and optional zip lining, adventure park activities that require climbing in trees with harnesses - so you should be ok with heights.

Details - Arrival city is Amboise, which accessible via train from Paris to St Pierre des Corps. 1hour; or from Paris Montparnasse to Amboise 1hr 35min. Departure from Chinon by train to Paris, 2hours 20min.
